At Luminera Montessori, we are creating a place where children are recognized as individuals, where their natural curiosity is taken seriously, and where they are given the time, space and guidance to become increasingly confident and independent.
We want Luminera to feel joyful and welcoming — a safe space children are excited to come to each morning, and a community where parents feel equally at home.
Why we created Luminera
Luminera began with a simple belief: families in Greater Sudbury deserve more choice in early childhood education.
We wanted to create something that went beyond traditional childcare — a place that respects the extraordinary potential of the early years and gives children opportunities to become capable, curious and confident from the very beginning.
Our vision is to bring together the principles of Montessori education with the warmth of a close-knit school community, where guides truly know their children and families, and parents are partners in their child’s journey.
A special place for a new beginning
Luminera is taking shape inside a beautiful former church at 396 Antwerp Avenue in Greater Sudbury.
We were drawn to the character, warmth, legacy and sense of community of the building, and we’re thoughtfully transforming it into a Montessori environment designed around young children.
As we create our Toddler and Casa spaces, every decision — from the classrooms and materials to the outdoor environment — is being considered through the eyes of a child: Does this invite me to explore? Can I do this myself? Do I feel comfortable and at home here?

Ultimately, that’s what we want Luminera to become.
A place where children feel safe enough to try, confident enough to make mistakes, curious enough to ask questions and proud of everything they are learning to do for themselves.
